Vision :
The identified vision of BSEHR is to create an enabling and conducive environment for the promotion and protection of human rights of poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, particularly women, children and ethnic minorities. The organization seeks to realize this goal through free legal services support, investigation, research and advocacy on the various instances of violations and infringement of rights, abuse of power and negligent exercise of authorities which result in deprivation, oppression and injustice.
Mission :
The mission of BSEHR is to develop a future program with significant emphasis on lessons and experiences learnt from its past and present activities. The program is also to include impact and need assessment exercises. The adaptation should be reflected not only in program areas but also in its institutional strategies, visions and policies of BSEHR. The future approach of the organization should be more program rather than project based and should work towards a conducive institutional development of BSEHR. Accordingly, a comprehensive programmatic and organizational development plan need to be developed for the coming years which will lead to achieve a greater level of programmatic, organizational and institutional sustainability of BSEHR.
Objectives :
BSEHR has set up the following objectives in realizing its goals and visions:
# To educate the members of the society about their basic and fundamental human rights and to educate them about the various legal remedies available if their rights are violated.
# To offer investigation, legal advice and legal aid to the under-privileged and the poor citizens.
# To conduct and promote research in the area of law relating to the eradication of poverty and the promotion of economic and social uplift amongst the weaker and less fortunate sections of the society and suggest reforms leading to the removal of social injustices.
# To address the relevant authorities on issued of human rights abuse and its prevention.
Modalities :
BSEHR deals with human rights in all five of its programme divisions which are: (i) Legal Aid (ii) Investigation/ fact Finding (iii) Action Research (iv) Legal Literacy (v) Pressure and Publicity.
BSEHR maintains a Human Rights Documentation Center for the use of students, lawyers and social activists.
